Hi,

I have done a search but not found anything useful. I have 2 PC's connected to an ADSL router that acts as a DCHP server as well. The 98SE PC works fine but the XP Pro machine loses all network connections after a while, the only way to get it back is to reboot. I see other have had very similar problems.

I used to have internet connection sharing set up on the XP machine before I got the router, could this be the problem?

One thing that is very strange about it is that I could connect in to the PC through remote desktop (through a forwarded port) but the PC could still not see the network.

any ideas?

If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you obviously haven't grasped the seriousness of the situation

. See if a driver update is available for the network card. Often the chipset manufacturer is a better bet than the OEM manufacturer of the card.

. Try the utility discussed in faq779-4625

Have you tried disable the option under power managment under the network card properties in device manager called "Allow the computer to turn of this device to save power"

I heard other people have had problems with this setting being enabled which it seems uncle Bill wants you to have on windows xp as default even though you arent running a laptop computer.

I'll check themout. thanks guys.
