This is an odd problem, to me it's odd. Anyways, I'll start up my computer and XP Pro loads at lightning speed, but then I'll have to wait at least 45 seconds to access a drive. If I try accessing it earlier, it was just hang there until all my startup icons/programs are loaded, and then afterwards the screen will "jump" letting you know all is loaded, my floppy disk drive will make a noise and then I can access stuff.

In today's computer age, waiting that time everytime I restart or start-up is quite annoying. Anybody know what could be going on here?

P.S. - This problem has gone away before! I don't know how or what I've done, but I've had it gone, so I know there must be a way.

Check to see what programs are starting at startup and remove those you don't need. (like winzip quickpick and realplayer etc.)

It is probably your antivirus software, but try: Do It Yourself Bootvis faq779-4518

There might be a few things you can look at here too.

FAQ779-4784 may help.
