Whats up guys, new to the boards, nice lil place yall got

well my problem is XP keeps crashing on me. Everytime it crashes and comes back up it gives me the "XP has recovered from a serious error do u want send report?" and so I will send it and it brings up that microsoft site and tells me it was caused by a device driver but they cant determine which device. I've noticed it only crashed when im trying to run games; ie: quake(im old school), Half-life, Gunbound, Warcraft 3, and Ragnarok.

So its led me to wonder if it has something to do with the video card or the memory. I've updated the video card, and other device drivers, still nothing. I wanna upgrade the BIOS but im having trouble finding an update for it. Anywho thats my problem here is the specs on my computer:

Processor: Athlon XP 2000+
RAM:640 MB
BIOS Type: American Megatrends
BIOS ID: 62-P120-001368-00101111-040201-SiS746-K7S8X120
OEM Sign-on: K7S8X BIOS P1.20
Chipset: SiS 746 rev 2
Video Card: NVIDIA RIVA TNT MODEL 64

Let me know anything else you might need. I am going to continue on trying to figure this out. Any information is very appreciated!!!

Definitely update the bios on the motherboard and video card. Reload the OS. Run windows update(windowsupdate.com) and install the latest updates for drivers, then go the video card makers site and download those latest drivers. Install the latest video drivers for the video card. Install the latest version of DirectX.Before you install any other applications run the dxdiag tests in the directx folder. If everything pans out install your video game software and run it.

SFC feature in 98se replaced with the following;
Run,chkdsk_/f
This will find and replace missing or corrupted
registry entries.

I've faced the same exact problem when using the same video card as yours. I worked like a dream once I changed it. My only conclusion is that the video card is a little cocked up on the hardware side. Give it a try (borrow one from a friend), it might be the source of all your problems.

cheers
