New computer is built with Maxtor SATA harddrive. I formatted the drive using Maxtor floppy. When I try to load from Windows XP Pro CD, setup gets interrupted at different .inf files that cannot be copied. Seems kind of random at what files cannot be copied. (I have tried the install twice.)On the present load
lwngmadi.inf, and lwusbhid.inf are two of the files not able to copy. Anyone out there have a clue as to what is causing this?

I had this problem with Windows Server 2003 earlier this year. Turned out it was the SATA drivers, for at that time there was no support for this OS with regards to the SATA drivers. So, if you have loaded the SATA drivers both times from the same floppy, perhaps there is a problem with the driver file on the floppy. Or, if there are several drivers to choose from on the floppy, perhaps you chose the wrong one. You could try obtaining another copy of the latest SATA driver from Maxtor and then trying to reload using the new file. Perhaps worth a try. Hope this helps.

What is interesting about this installation problem is that it is rarely an issue with the CD or files. BIOS issues, RAM issues, Overclocking, and hard disk driver issues are more likely at fault.

You are hitting F6 and loading from floppy the SATA drivers, I hope, early during installation.

I have this same problem also on vairous machines. The quick fix that I found was to have a couple of copies of XP handy. When the files aren't found on the original installation CD, swap out the CD with on of the copies and the files will be found. Repeat as neccesary. Sounds stupid but it's worked for me. Good luck.
