I have someone who is having problems reading/writing outlook express emails ... the white background in OE is too bright to the point of being painful ... we have set up a 21" LCD screen in 800x600 and gone into the screen palete and changed all the white backgrounds ... upon entering OE all the subwindows are fine as they take on the XP defined backgrounds ... however the moment we open an email the active mail window changes to WHITE and stays that way along with the EMail compose window.

OE compose option lets one change the font and font color but I don't see a way to tell it to keep the XP Screen colors ... does anyone know of a registry setting that will fix this?

Turning on the magnifying glass just make it more difficult for this individual ... the voice reader would help with reading but not with composing ... trying to learn a new mail program after using OE over 8 years and with limited eyesight would also be a challange so hoping someone has a solution.

NOTE: You must use HTML formatting to incorporate a background color into your messages. Plain Text mode does not support background color".

What about a 21" tinted bit of perspex or something similar? Maybe even sun glasses?

Send HTML still doesn't do it. The inbox window is still in white.

Not native mode for the monitor and it must be heck to read anything, it may be big but blurry...

you could try to change the Color Temperature Setting of the Monitor...

worse then that, its a wide screen ... not my choice ... have tried all sorts of settings but that is the one that was chosen by the individual.

I certainly wouldn't want to look at that mode all day but I am not the one using it.

I connected to the PC today and for some reason it is now working as expected ... not sure if the machine was rebooted or possibly PC anywhere was to blame but at least it is now doing what was requested.

So thanks to all for the input.
