Hi, I have a pc running win xp which has a local printer shared with the "everyone" group having write access. when users try to look at the printer in add printers they are prompted for a IPC$ password. This is running on a windows 2000 server backbone with all users logining on to the domain.
I have checked all I know how to.
Help

Thanks

This is a very common problem with 9x clients accessing 2k/XP resources. The only reliable way to resolve it seems to be putting the user's account details as a local user on the box sharing the printer, but that's not a great answer if you're on a mid-sized network and/or you have a lot of users all wanting to print.

It's also worth checking that your XP box has the Netlogon service running as this causes similar behaviour, although I'd have expected you to see plenty of other errors if it hadn't.
