XP panel won't leave desktop 1

Last night I was looking in the Control Panel. When I closed it, a panel on the left side of the destop was still there. I don't know how to make it go away.
It says:
Folder Tasks, Other Places, Details. Please tell me how to get this off my desktop.

For Common Tasks issue:
Click Start, Run and type "regsvr32 /i shell32". Restart Windows. If this does not help, download the fix from Doug Knox's site:
