since i have installed my new memory for my pc ( 1 gb ddr)
some older programs have stopped working saying that there is not enough memory to run
how the hell do i sort it out
is it a xp problem , or is it purely software
help me please

What OS are you running? I've read that win9x can have problems with 512 mb or more ram installed. Also you may want to check if you pc (bios) and OS are reporting 1 gb of ram. Check your motherboards manual to see that it can take 1 gb stick and that it is in the proper slot. Don't know if this is helpful but it's what I'd check.

Cheers

Thx to all who respond ;)
