New Windows XP machines with Novell client 4.90sp1a can not see tree atlog in until I have clicked on advance tab and clicked on tabs a few times. I don't change anything! At first I thought it was the time factor, but if you don't click tabs, the machine does not see tree even after 5 min.

Other machines from the same group work fine and the client installations were the same. If you log into Windows first and then Novell it seemslog in perfectly. Sometimes a mapped drive will not re-map.

Our servers run Novell 5.5

Any help will be greatly appreciated. BillieAnne

It sounds like your network is not setup correctly to advertise what services are available.

If you're using IPX.... force the IPX frame type and segment number on your WinXP workstation.

If you're using IP only, you need to setup SLP and/or DHCP to help distribute info about services available on the network.

PS.. There is no NetWare 5.5

agree

on pc go to a dos box and type slpinfo /all
type info in here

also do ipconfig /all and post

at server - type display slpda and post here as well

I have the same problem. Was this resolved?

Have you installed NMAS and NICI when the client was installed? We found this was a factor, you don't need these unless you are using specific security stuff like retina scans or so I have been told. We uninstalled these and things got a bit better.

Hey Cwissy - I am having a problem with NW 6, XP and the client, but I just took your advice and removed NICI and NMAS from the client. Well, it worked!

Briefly, I had XP pro, installed client 4.9 sp1 and the management agent and the PC went into reboot mode. The only way I could get out of it was go into safe mode and uninstall the network. I updated bios, video, applied all patches and nothing worked....until I read your post.

Thanks
