Hi,
One of my clients is having a problem accessing the internet from an XP computer. That computer's TCP/IP properties include a gateway address and the DNS address points to a Win2K AD domain server. On the Win2K domain server, I've deleted the root zone and set up 2 DNS forwarders pointing to the 2 ISP DNS servers and yet the XP computer is still unable to reach the internet (it can log into the local domain fine). The XP computer (as well as the other domain computers) are set up with static IP addresses. The other computers can get to everything fine (they are Win2K workstations so they can use NETBIOS and have the local DNS point to the ISP DNS servers). They only have one server on the domain so I used the "Configure your Server" wizard to automatically set up the DNS info when the server was originally set up. The firewall was set up by the client's ISP consultant so unfortunately, I do not have info about it nor access to it to troubleshoot that end. Is there anything else I need to check for in the DNS configuration on the domain server other than the forwarders? Could the firewall need configuration changes and if so, how could I prove that? (The client's ISP people have not been very responsive regarding troubleshooting so I think I would need some add'l information before getting them to look at their end.)

Any help would be great!

Maybe your user downloaded a software firewall and block everything? Check also the XP built in firewall?

Thanks for the suggestions- I looked at the firewall and it was disabled. However, I was able to solve the problem- a setting was enabled to only allow secure updates to DNS (vs dyanamic) so I think that was causing the problem.
