XP installation

My friend has a biostar m7vig pro and when he tries to install windows xp pro, after it says "Setup is starting windows" the first time in the in blue screen ( before u choose setup type) it jus stays there and does nothing. the setup has been tried with both ddr and sd-ram and they both have the same outcome.
what is the cause of this?
