XP Home folder permissions problems

I have an application running on xp home that gets an error accessing its own folder inside of the Program Files folder. It says it can not create the file xxxxx.xxx,when I look at the folder I notice that it is tagged as read only, I can uncheck the check box and hit apply but when I check back to see if it changed it, it is still tagged as read only. I am logged in as an account that is an administrator and loaded the program as an administrator. I even uninstalled the rogram and reinstalled the program with a program files location outside of the Program Files folder in a folder C:\hold . The program runs fine until it tries to save the file to the hard drive. It seems to be a rights issue but I am not sure, any ideas?

If you have a piece of software that is having
problems writing to a folder then try to get an xp
compatible version of the program. Or post the exact problems you're having.
Most likely if it is a well written app then is it not the read-only check
box, more likely a permissions setting.

Here is some info on it:

XP does this by design. In XP the read only attribute
is only used by explorer to see if the folder is a special or a system
folder. Read up on it:
