I have XPH and am suddenly experiencing very slow accesses or writing to hdd. Is this a memory leak and, if so, how do I fix it?

On the w98 questions, can this version of OS use a hdd with a FAT of NTSF? I think that is what XPH put it in.

TIA

Win98 cannot access NTFS without a special utility. You can use Google to find one that would allow 98 to read a NTFS disk - there are a few free ones about. When you installed XP - was it a clean install - or did you upgrade a previous version?

It was a new computer and installed by the computer dealer. I assume it was a clean install. I have had nothing but problems with XP and am getting ready to go back to 98SE.

This ntsf reading utility you are talking about. Do you know the name of a ggod? One that has been tested and proven not faulty?

Thanks.

I would be very interested in knowing what hardware you are using. I also received a computer with xp already installed and encountered many problems. Most of these problems were simply because the technician that installed the drivers did so from the original discs and never bothered to check for any updates.

It doesn't matter any more as I'm planning on selling this PC and getting a Macintosh.

Thanks for all your helps.
