XP Freezing when IE open

My XP Pro on my Dell Laptop. I did a clean install with NTFS on one partition and Fat32 on another. When I am surfing the interney sometimes it freezes the whole computer up so I have to power it off. I am woundering if anyone has had this problem or has a fix for it. I do have all the updates and have reinstalled it cleanly 2 times and have the same problem.

What did the Compatibility checking program say when you ran it?

What anti virus type software are you running?

You could check the Event Viewer to see if there are any further details in the Applications or the System folder about any error.

I have norton anti virus on my computer. There was not error messages in my event veiwer I am going to try the fix tonight. Thanks for the help liney
