I am running Windows XP Pro. I have the problem that when I browse the web, the computer randomly locks up. I have to totally reboot the system to use it again. The computer is a Dell Inspiron 8100. It is not an ISP issue because the same problem occurs when I use my wireless connection via cable and when I use my dial-up from a different provider. I am running Explorer 6 with all the latest patches. There is limited additional software on the computer (Photoshop, Adobe reader, ect), just your basic stuff. I have virus protection running and everything is clean. I even tried re-installing IE6. The problem started a few months ago and has progessively gotten worse. Anyone experince soemthing similar to this, or have any ideas how to reapir. I talked to support person from Dell and they recomended reinstalling OS, but I risk having to reinstall the entire system.

Try without the antivirus program running. It could also possibly be your graphics card drivers. Do you have XP's firewall activated by any chance? If so, try turning that off too.
