XP FLASHES ON AND OFF

HI,

Lately I have been having a problem with XP. The display will go blank and after about 1 second it will come back on. My pc does not reboot, it just goes on and off and it does not happen all the time. I have checked all of the power saver settings and everything is turned off. I do not have any screen savers running either. The hibernation setting is also off. Has anyone else experienced this same problem?

Have you checked that your monitor is properly connected and that all the leads are in properly and secure.

I forgot to mention that I am on a laptop.

Well, I hate to say this, but if its a laptop I'd think the most likely cause would be a loose wire somewhere inside..(probably around the hinge) If it were a Desktop computer I would check the monitor and video card drivers, but I don't think that would be a problem here.
