XP containing Spyware?

I've heard from reliable sources that XP HOME does contain a good bit of spyware which recounts back to Microsoft. Some I've heard have even gone so far as to say it will forward info about things such as DVD's that you watch. I'm not sure how much of it I believe, anyone have nay further info on this? I first read about it forever ago at:

I've been told it supposedly sends a lot of information back when you regester it, anyone have any -solid- proof one way or the other?

If you run SpyBot Search and Destroy it will flag some Windows Media Player version 9.0 features as spyware. I've never heard of any other "spyware" type features in XP though.

The program referenced in the Darwin article actually is a vital part of IIS ( and PWS) - It is, however, the target of the Code Red virus ( and maybe others), so be sure you are running a good virus detection and cleaning program.
