I have recently downloaded barts pe to generate a bootable cd. I am interested in trying out win pe but cannot find much info out.

Can you download win pe builders?
It would seem that microsoft want to restrict it's use but it seems as though it could have great potential in disaster recovery plans.

Is anyone using win pe? what are your thoughts on the product?

Thanks
Si

I think it is a good product for situations where you can't access your normal operating system.

If you download it from Bart's site the help files for compiling the CD seem to be clearly written. Pay attention to plugin instructions. For some of the plugins to work the software must already be installed on your hard drive, others can be installed directly into the PE builder CD.

It is a very basic operating system (but not a basic piece of software)with many good uses.

Look at this too.

ultimate boot cd ??

Thanks linney

I have tried out bart's pe. The idea is great although I did not like the look of the desktop (just a small picky thing).

I really want to compare Microsoft's win pe with bart's. Where do I get a copy?

Thanks
Si

It is not a retail product. You need to be a licensed MSFT OEM system builder.

It's not even worth moaning about crappy microsoft decisons.

Thanks guys
