look trough the Win32API::File module. It has lots of low-level functions for dealing with files and drives.

I AM programming system data collection tool,which is already functioning and distributed.
It creates a very nice HTML file with all the computer+application info inside.
Guess you would like it.
I can show it to you if you give me some ftp address to copy it to.
