Can anyone tell me why I have to clear out the temp internet files (TIF) subdirectory after only 3-4 web pages? If I don't clear these files the system comes to a halt, not crash and burn, it justs stops. I have left it run to see how long it would take to finally come up with the last page and it took about 15 minutes!

Unexceptable.

Why and how can I fix it? I have tried every combination of virtual sizes, Netscape's cache sizes, etc. The only thing that works is clearing files.

The file sizes in TIF are in the 50kb range for each one and only about 6 files. What gives? Is there a memory leak I need to find a fix for? If so, where do I get it?

If there is no fix for this are there any Visual Basic script gurus out there that can write a script for me to go in every five minutes and clear the files for me?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You could use a batch file and make a shortcut to it, but thats not really the solution !

What is the exact error windows is displaying ?

Also, what (if any) anti virus software are you running?

hmmm... your use of the term "virtual sizes" has me thinking you're trying to adjust the size of virtual memory. more specifics as to your present configurations would be helpful. how much disk space do you have allocated for your TIFs? go to control panel, double-click internet options. under the general tab, click the settings button in the TIF section. use the slider to increase the amount of disk space. i've got mine set at 1000 mb.

hope this helps.

Just so you will know:

I get no error, the system just grinds to a halt.

NAV 2002.

It doesn't matter what size I have the TIF set to, I still have to clear the files out.

Thanks for all your help anyway.

Is this Home or Pro?

Some other things you might like to check. See if you have a second folder called Temporary Internet Files appearing in your Temp folder (located in Local Settings of your username). Also check that your username has full control via permissions to access your Temporary Internet Folder.

XP Home (piece os c___p)

I have moved the TIF folder to c:\temp\TIF so I can get to it without going through 14 folders...

I have access.

I am waiting for an app so I can back up all my data files to multiple CDs then XP is going bye-bye.
