I have a windows XP laptop, all profiles are roaming profiles. I joined the laptop to the domain and then i logged in. I get the message 'access denied' to the folder where DESKTOP appdata and MY DOCUMENTS are stored. the desktop is blank and nothing works. Any ideas how to resolve this?

the desktop will be blank when you newly join a domain as it loads locally c:\domuser\docs and settings\desktop, you will need to right click on the desktop, properties, desktop, conifigure, then check the components for normal use, IE, My Docs, My Comp, Network Places.

As for your serverside My Documents, have you created the home directory for the user correctly, or if you are using a shared folder for all, given that user permissions to read/write and modify in that folder?

Hope this helps.

the profile works 100% on every computer(win 2000) but just not xp, and all the file permissions are ok.

Im guessing its XP SP2?

Do you have any successful XP Profiles in your 2000 Domain?

Do you have any successful XP Profiles in your 2000 Domain, as an XP Profile is different(so to speak) than a configuration for a profile or a 2000 machine.

XP includes the addition of a firewall. Have you dissabled it to see what would happen?
