XP - 2K Home Network

Hey, Im wondering if anyone has successfully set up a home network between a W2K machine and an XP machine? If so, how? I ran the wizard in XP which created a "home" network for me and added my laptop. However I have not been able to add the W2K desktop to the network. I can access the shared folders of the XP machine from both computers but the 2K machine isnt appearing. Any ideas?
The XP wizard created a floppy disk for me to use on the 2K machine but this didnt work as apparently its only for 98,ME and XP, and there is a different route to take for setting up Windows 2000. What must I do?

I have a XP laptop, Win2k workstation, and a Windows 2003 Server all connected with a LinkSys DSL Router. They are all part of the same workgroup and I have no problems at all.

If you are using static IP addresses (ie, you've assigned them to each machine yourself), just make sure 2k machine has address in same range as XP ones are using (you can set this in network properties). If you have a DHCP server (eg, router or using ICS), make sure 2k machine is set to pick up IP address automatically. Make sure its in same workgroup as XP machines & that you have shared something (drive, folder, printer).

It should be straightforward (and I'm assuming you haven't customised your 2k's network software/settings).

Make sure the Win2K machine is in the HOME workgroup. My Network Places sometimes has problems seeing the other computers that are not in it's workgroup. You should be able to enter

\\<XP IP Address>

into the address bar to see the shares on the XP machine.

Thanks a million people, Jmaddone you were closest, I had to rename the workgroup network on my win2K machine to the same as the XP one and then create identical logins for both. Working something beautiful now.
