xml tree to string in mozilla

Hi, I'm a web developer from Italy.
Using Explorer, I can obtain the xml string
es: <a t=&quot;bla&quot;><b></b></a>
starting from a node of an xml tree with the instruction node.xml .
Can I do the same with Mozilla?
