XML and flash

Hello,

I am kinda new to the flash and xml scene, but would really appriciate some help if someone could. I need to take a map of some property which is here and take the information from below and link it to the map as a person hovers over each piece of land.

I know that I will have to drae the map in flash and have each piece its own seperate layer. can that be done in fireworks and imported to flash layers intact?

If a peice ol land sells i would also like to display it a different color.

I figure that all the information can be stored in a XML file and be changed there and that would then change the look of the map.

Flash cannot write directly to files, so any changes to your xml file would have to be made with a server-side script, eg asp, php, jsp, pl etc
I have no experience in fireworks (true photoshop lover ) but i have reviewed the features in fireworks 8 and it looks as though vector and layer integration is consistent between the 2 programs.

Judging by the quality of your image, Flash could trace your bitmap with minimal cleanup and then would require your coding (of course) to make it interactive.

I guess what I am looking for is more of an idea on how to connect the flash to xml or a database so I can put all the information from the chart in an xml or database so flash can read from it so for instance if i hover ove property 1, all information related to it is displayed ( the reason that I would like it in xml or database is so it is easier to update for the client.

I guess what I am asking is for some help on the coding acpect of it.
