XMI000 8 : Msg from shelf 0: XPEC error #0001

I have an 81c , and I get this msg very often. I would like to say it has something to do with Mermail, because when mermail locks up that error is there. Dont know for sure.

What is the entire error that you recieved.

I'd personally be very concerned about any loss of signaling between a network card and any element of my switch.

Do you have CallPilot on this shelf? If you do, you will need MPLR16002 (this patch is has 6 fixes for CallPilot on it). You should be getting some AUD017, AUD018, AUD019 later on.

It is a message involving communication between your network and controller cards for superloop 8. check your grounds on this column, as esd can cause these errors to come up, also a failing controller card can cause this particular one, but that's rarely the case. as long as this is the only message you are getting and you don't have other related messages about timeslots etc. you shouldn't worry too much about this one. It seems to be more of an annoyance than anything else. usually the grounding clears these up. I've seen it on rls. 23,24,and 25 switches.

I AM GETTING TOME SLOT ERRS FOR EXAMPLE: BUG 4005, BUG0330,BUG4005,BUG9232. WHATS GOIN ON? ANY HELP IS APPRECEIATED

With both types of error codes, It sounds like you might be have a Controller card problem. Bug codes are software related so it could be corrupted data that will clear up with a ini. but I wouldn't make that call for you, as if it is Hardware related the component might fail.
I have friends that are Vendors and they never were too worried about this code even when combined with other codes unless there was a system impact, so it's really up to you how far you want to take it. I slowed this down on the switches that I was getting the codes on, by checking the grounds and doing an ini. around twice a year to keep my systems cleaned up, but I never have been rid of it completely.
If it's one of those annoying things you can't live with, call in a Tech. support team and give them the info and see what they tell you. Good luck and I hope it works out.
