HI All,

I have this problem: I have a x.25 link in a cisco router 2520 and I like to make x.25 packages leave from cisco to a network tcp/ip.

Could you help me on this.

Topology is anything like this: x.25 -- cisco -- Rede TCP/IP

Thanks and regards,

Ricardo Melo.

The question doesn't make sense. You have a layer two protocol on one side and a layer three protocol on the other side. What is the layer three protocol running on the X.25 network? What is the layer two network protocol in use on your "Rede" interface?

hi,

I'm sorry for my post, full of confusions.

I have a x25 interface(wan) in cisco 2500 serial, on one side, and a network on the other side, in the cisco ethernet interface. I like to make the packages from the x.25 interface, arrive to a server on TCP/IP Network.

"What is the layer three protocol running on the X.25 network?"
X25

"What is the layer two network protocol in use on your "Rede" interface?"
TCP.

The topology (correcting) is anyone like this:

x.25 cloud -- Router cisco -- Ethernet

Thanks,

Ricardo Melo

TCP is actually layer four, but you answered my question. You have X.25 on one side and Ethernet on the other.

So, let's see if I have this right: your X.25 network is not currently carrying IP traffic, but you want it to speak with hosts on an IP network?

If the X.25 network is not carrying IP traffic, then what is it carrying?

I think I need to re-read my old X.25 material. :-)

Are you just needing to do X.25 over TCP?

yes, this is what i want. A configuration for cisco 2520 will seems good. :)

This x.25 link is for make comercial transations with credit cards in supermarkets, shoppings. it's a service provided for my country's telecom.

P.S.: I'm sorry, my english is not very good (i'm brazilian) and my knowledge about x.25 protocol, too. :)

If you want to carry X.25 traffic from one X.25 terminal to another with an IP network in between then you need X.25 over TCP, or XoT. This could get you started:

Just do a Google search for "cisco x.25 xot" and you'll find everything you need to know.

Hope that helps!

John

John,

I see the link, helps a lot.

the process, in theory, i understood. The problem is convert this knowledge in a cisco config to 2520. I configure using XOT but, after some tests, none packages from x.25 cloud matches the ip network. And i don't know what happens.
