WYSE terminal Deployment

Is there a way to create a pre-configured master win ce image and upload it to the network then download it to the new terminals that are being deployed

can you do it via FTP

or 3rd party software??

Not sure if that is doable, I abandoned wyse terminals awhile ago, after I discovered a printing problem with wyse models running windows ce. I went with neowares that run linux as the os, printing problems gone.

Wyse admitted the problem and never gave me a fix. 6 months after I got the neowares, these guys were still e-mailing me that a fix was pending.

However, you might look at this product, which allows you to administer these devices over the network.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

We have deployed the wyse 1200le's with great success.
You have to get an ftp server and you configure a .ini file that configures all your ica connections and customizes the terminal itself. You can lock it down, create connections, add a company standard wallpaper and push out firmware upgrades without a local tech present.
You just add 2 entries to your dhcp scope that points back to your ftp server and ftp directory. When the 1200le boots-up, it contact the ftp and pulls down the ini file. Works great!

Do configuration just like enigma99 says above. Works great. Also at remote locations we have configured this. Our cisco routers are DHCP server and a option in dhcp points to our ftp server with the wyse firmware and inifiles. (option 161 ip <ftp server ip adres>. New wyse devices are ordered and directly sent to our remote locations. Users only have to plug in the device on the network and can work in 2 minutes.

Will this work for the 3000 series as well. We have just purchased approx. 400 3125 SE to go state wide. This would help greatly.

I am not working any more with wyse terminals (other job). But wat ik can remember is that the resolution in the user.ini was working good. Spelled it good? Set the statement on a different line.

For enigma99: could you please (maybe in private if you feel so) help me in getting FTP working with my 1200LE? I can't get it running, but I followed the instructions on the wyse.com site!

It looks like you are using an individual user profile for your config. (makes it a little harder) instead of using a global config.

I just set up the Network configuration and set up a connection to my "Published Desktop". Can you be more detailed?
