I've got WSUS up and running, however it's really hit or miss when I add a PC on the network to the GPO for WSUS. Some machines (2k sp4/XPSP1/XPSP2) will take it right off the bat and work fine, some machines require being removed from the domain and re-added. For testing purposes I setup 6 PC's under the GPO with a GPO refresh rate of 1 minute to get the policies applied quickly. 1 out of the six machines got it off the bat.

Why do I have to pull the machines off the domain to get the policies to apply?

What version of windows/SP are the hit and miss clients running

defekt,

Did you try to refresh the GPO locally on the client machines with
gpupdate /force?

I was forcing the update locally and it was still not applying. However, last night I created a new test pool of 3 XPSP2 machines and 2 Win2ksp4 machines and now this morning they are all reporting to the Wsus tool after rebooting them last night. I did not have to remove/add them to the domain for it to work. I'm going to be adding more and more machines on the network to the test pool to see if they will all work.
