Hello , I have a problem regarding my domains. I have a client who is a member in company.com. I build a new temporary server wich is the corp.company.com because I am planning to build a new network that the external and internet domain name are not the same. My problem is everytime I restart the computer and connect to the network that client will use a wrong domain the temporary server corp.company.com. To correct the right domain I need to set down with the computer and execute some ipconfig commands line... like ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew..

Any help pls..thank you.. [neutral]

uummm, i'd find the machine name in active directory computers and users, and delete it and delete the lease in DHCP, then join it to the domain

ok.. i will try it Helenp1983.. thanks

Helenp1983 do you have an experience having the same name with your external and internal domain name? what can you say about this issue? because I have a problem with that now with my small network. I'd already put a DNS just to resolved the problem of accessing the external domain. Is that enought?

Can you give me just a tips or pre-cautions.. THANKS [dazed]

Adding your DNS is all you should need to do. I have experienced a similar problem on a couple of networks I was handed. And one of them, runs a ton of database connections with a couple of other companies and they transfer stuff all over the place so changing the domain would cause weeks of headaches so it has to stay in place.

I would have to agree with what Helenp1983 says, remove it from the domain, delete any instance of the PC from Active directory, dns, and dhcp and add it back to the domain.

If you still have problems try giving the PC a static IP address. That should force it to the DNS server. You can also add the DNS server to the local host file on the PC and that might help as well.

Cheers
Rob
