Hello,

I have installed a second drive on my win2000pro box.
I would like to backup the system state and .pst files and my documents ect... to the d drive(new harddrive). When I set up the backup using 'backup' I get an error saying the drive is write protected. Can anyone help here? Also, I posted this here due to the fact it is Win2000 Pro.

Thanks for any help.

Can you write to the D drive normally?

Check your rights to use the D drive. Your may need to be an Admin to use the drive at present. New Zealand, a great place to visit.

I can write to this drive normally. Where would I check for rights to this drive?

Go into your Local Security settings and find the entry for Back Up Files and directories. Add users as appropriate -- the fault is Administrators and Back Operators. Also, right-click on the drive in Explorer and check the security settings there if using NTFS.

*ahem*

Make that -- "the DEfault is Administrators and Backup Operators..."
