I am a new user to QuarkXpress. I find it to be a very easy to use program. I am using version 6.1. I have run across 2 problems that have me scratching my head.
The first is getting text to wrap in an arc. I have tried to use the Freehand Text-Path tool with no luck.
My second problem is trying to make the white background of .jpg files transparent. I would appericate any guidance that anyone has.

Should work the way your explaining it. Use the ‘Bézier-Text-Path Tool’ to create your arc. Once your arc is made switch to the ‘Content Tool’ click on your arc and type away.

For best results clipping photos I’d suggest doing all your clipping paths in photoshop. Though if you just want to use the auto clip double click the image with ‘Item Tool’ or cmd+M or ctrl+M on PC and under the Clipping tab and switch the Type to Non-White Areas, tweak the settings as need be. Though complex stuff wont come out very well, so stick to photoshop and make proper clipping paths.
