Hi guys,
Is it possible to take the value of a field in a subreport, and use it to suppress the detail field in the mainreport?

I have a report which has one detail band only. In that detail band is a field sized subreport which displays one field from a single selected record from another table (which is linked to the table in the main report).

Is there anyway I can use conditional suppression to suppress the main report detail band - depending on the value in the subreport field?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have never done this but I have done math formulas with subreport data -- shared variables are the key. Assign the subreport value(s) to a shared variable, then conditionally suppress like you normally would, and reference the shared variable in your formula, and I believe this will work. You have to use formulas and must define ALL of your variables as "shared".

Hello ,

I need a specific help for a Crystal report that I've been developing. I've created a sub-report which is accepting value from the main report as parameter and displaying in the Detail section of the latter. The problem is how to create a total field based on the values returned from the subreport. Please help.

See thread149-107997 - "Summing a subreport and the main report?" for the answer.)

Best Wishes,

Alan
