A friend set up a workgroup of 3 Windows 2000 Pro machines. Some of the machines can not see each other and can not see a printer The printer is on PC-2. Here is what he wrote me.

Here's the setup

PC-1 'sees' PC-2 and PC-3
PC-3 'sees' PC-1 and PC-2
PC-2 'sees' no one else
Workgroup name is WORKGROUP
PC-1 'sees' PTR on network, but cannot print - assume same is true for PC-3
PC-2 prints fine to PTR
Need to install USB drive on PC-2 so that all PC's can share data from that drive (USB drive ready to go - data installed)
Not sure, but I believe all PC's can reach the internet

Hope this helps.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Make sure all computers have the option "File and Printer Sharing for Mircosoft Networks" under network connection properties. and if you want to share the printer go to the workstation it is attached to, right click it and choose share. Then the other computers can browse the network double clik PC2 (the computer with the printer) and double click the printer and it will be automaitcally installed

Do the username/password credentials used to logon the 3 machines exist on all the machines? (should do to allow them all access to shared resources).
