Hello Everyone,

I developed a Time Clock database using Access. I installed the tables to a network share drive on a server and installed the applications to each workstation. The forms I created where built using the VB scripts editor, except 2. The two I created using auto form feature, update real time data on tables. All of the workstations are running fine except one. The login that the user uses, even if an administrator logs in, won't allow the user to view those two (auto form) forms. The same user can use a different workstation to login to the database and view all forms without incidence. Has anyone run into a similar situation? Is anyone aware of Access confliction with other applications, such Peachtree? This user also accesses a Peachtree database using the same workstation. The version of Access the user is running is Office XP with OS of W2K Pro. The Database created was developed using Access 2000.

Any advice will help and I thank you in acdvance.

The question is: 1. Are you using workgroup security? Meaning, do your users log onto the database with a username and password?
2. How do they get into the database? Double-click on the MDB? Have you provided them with a specific shortcut?

This sounds like a problem with some users using the custom workgroup file, and some users able to enter the database without the workgroup file, but still unable to access some features.

Yes, I am using a Workgroup Security. No I do not have short cuts on their desktop. I have the actual .mdb file on the workstations that links to the tables to the network drive this lessons network traffic. The users double click on the .mdb and a login screen appears, they login using username and password. All of the other workstations work except this one. I can't think of anything else to do.

Thank you.

There are two options:

1. Use the workgroup administrator. Ensure that the workgroup that they are "joined" to by default is the one you want, i.e. the one on the network drive. Do this on each machine.

2. Give each of your users a shortcut that opens MSACCESS with the MDB and then uses the parameter:
/wrkgrp "J:\yourpath\yourworkgroup.MDW"

This will achieve the same goal, except that it doesn't require they log in *anytime they open Access*, which option #1 does.

I don't have an example at hand right now (away from desk), but you can grab an example of how workgroup security and shortcuts are set up from my "Copy Shortcut To Database" example:
