We want to switch off 'Check spelling as you type' in Word 97 and XP automatically. We can't find the variable either in the registry or a users profile.
Once we know the value we can either set up a policy or use a logon script to set it.

Anyone know what/where it is ?

office 97 - hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office\8.0\word\options Autogrammar"="0"

office 2000 -hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office\9.0\word\options
"Autogrammar"=dword:00000000

try this

Thanks for the prompt response, i'll give it a go.

Do you happen to know where 'Check grammar as you type' and 'check grammar with spelling' are ?

Thanks

In Word2000, under Tools->OptionsSpellinf&Grammer there is a whole list of things you can enable/disable. This includes 'Check Spelling as you type'.

The registry entries listed don't exist in Office XP.

Does anyone have the equivalent ones for Office XP ?

Thanks
