Right, Problem is i have a folder on the server called Clients within this is about 20000 folders and files of which various documents exsist, the typists used to work within this folder but we had problems with people deleteing files etc, so i tried to come up with a solution to let them modify the docs but not delete them. The thing is when you take the delete command off on the 2k server this stopes them making new documents within these dirs, they have to work outside if these folders then cut or copy and paste them in there, this ive found out to be the TMP file word creates, if you create a doc within a folder that has delete option removed word lets you create the doc but when it comes to save doesnt allow you has word tries to del its tmp file that it uses when the doc is being created and thus doesnt work. If you could redirect the TMP files to a working dir it would be fine but this isnt possible i dont think, CAN NE1 THINK OF A SOLUTION TO THIS OR ANY SOFTWARE I CAN BUY TO TIE PERMISSIONS DOWN EVEN MORE? OR IS THIS JUST A FACTOR OF WORD? Im using word XP and win2k server.
