Hi folks - One of the guys I work with has a Word document that he has created by taking an old document, blitzing previous data, and then replacing/updating with new data. On screen looks fine, but when printed, the old data is overlaid on top of the new data, just as though the sheet of paper had been sent through the printer twice.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing somewhere that there was an issue of Office Apps potentially retaining old data when a document was generated in this format (Could be wrong though), but can't find a MS KB on it, nor any related threads in here.

Anyone take pity and point me in the right direction of a description of the problem and/or any possible resolutions.

Cheers

Hi Anne, many thanks for that, I'll tell him to try it. What do those 'fast save thingummyjigs' do (Please note the technical complexity of the question when formulating the answer) :)

Regards

Technical answer:
They save only the portions that have been changed; each set is saved to a different temp file. You can see this by turning on viewing of hidden files, and open a Word doc on your desktop, change something, save, change something, save, and you'll see the temp files on the desktop multiply...

Anyway, I don't like the sounds of that overlay. You know what it sounds like to me? It sounds like there's some text in a table, and the table's got text wrapping on it, and it's set to be on top of text. Any chance of that? Table-Select table, Table-Properties, choose None under text wrapping.

Make sure it's not just tracked changes being turned on and he's not viewing them but he is printing them...something like that. Always happy to check out the file. :)

And that's thing-a-ma-jigs, you lovable buffoon.
