Hi
I have a Win2k server running active directory and 25 desktops running XP Pro with MS Office 2002.
I thought everything was working fine. All services are up and running, all users and machines can log in and Exchange, email, local intranet and Internet access (via ADSL gateway) are all fine.
There is however a problem with Word and Excel on the clients, especially Word. For about 60-70% of the documents when a user clicks to open the 'egg timer' appears and Word appears to hang (if you check it via the Task Manager it says 'not responding'). However if you're patient after about 6-7 minutes the document appears! It can then be edited and saved no problem. There is no delay when saving, but if you immediately try to open it again you have to wait 7 minutes again!
I suspected DNS settings, but why doesn't the delay apply to all documents? I've tried various settings, even the things you "shouldn't" do with Win2k such as LMhosts and using WINS - no good. Anybody got any ideas?
