I have a user whose Microsoft Word application does not work properly. When it is open, there are no toolbars or menu items present. You cannot right click to change anything either.

However, I myself as domain admin and as administrator do have complete functionality on the same system. To trouble shoot, I opened the application data folder and deleted the Microsoft folder from her profile. I then copied the normal.dot file from another working pc and copied it to the c:\program files\microsoft office\office folder. It still didn't work. I then removed office, and reinstalled it in hopes that this would fix it. This did not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all ahead of time.

Try the easy fix first. Go to Start, Run, and type: winword.exe /a
Now try Word. Post back if no joy...

'Course, you didn't spec which vintage of Word...that fix only really kicks in the "repair" behavior in 2k forward...

You are correct, I forgot to mention the vers. My bad. But props to you, that fixed. Thanx much

I had the same problem. I ran winword.exe /a and it fixed the problem however I cannot find the reason this happened anywhere in Microsoft's Knowledge Base. Anyone know why this happens?
