Hi everyone,

This is an annoying one! When I close a document within word (using either the small X in the top right - not the main X for word itself or select File, Exit) it closes word altogether. I would like Word to remain open even though I do not have any documents open. Is there a setting for this I stupidly missed? Or is it a case of there something being wrong with the install?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Shetlandbob,

This does not work - it closes Word altogether. The user should be able to use the small X below the main X anyway to close the document only.

For everyone else my Word Version is 2002 with SP3

Hi gavm99,

Do you have any code running on document close?

Enjoy,
Tony

Hi Tony,

No there is nothing fancy at all going on. Just a straight forward document, no macros running at any point.

Hi gavm99,

how about trying ctrl+F4 ?

Would this help ?

Hi gavm99.

What is happening with this? This is not proper Word behaviour. I myself just had a weird one. I did a bunch a steps, then used the Undo button to back up. The last Undo click...undid Word! No error message, no warning, just closed Word. Hmmmmm.

Hi all,

Just to let you all know I had to reinstall Word in the end. It now works as it should do.

Thanks.
