Word Font Question / probably simple

Hi,

One of my users was writing a letter in Word 2000. She was changing the fonts and some how managed to change her font to symbols (Mostly squares) the wierd thing is that when I select all and change the font to something else, either Arial, Courier New, or what have you, the font stays garbled. I was able to get the text back by using the undo function, but she is now unable to change the font. Anyone know why this is happening?
