Word Compatibility

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I have a number of word documents which I wish to put on the Internet. I want my users to be able to download these word documents and fill in their own text.

However, I am not sure which version of word my viewers will be using. They may be using word 95, word 97, word 2002 ect. I am currently using Word 2002, for maximum compatibility should I save my documents as:

1. Word 6.0/95
2. Word 97-2002 & 6/95 - RTF
3. A standard Word document

Also are there any published Microsoft documents which show ownership of different versions of word?

Hi Steve,

compatibility is a major problem with Word.
You can only be relatively sure, if you save it as DOC.

If you want to be (almost) absolutely on the safe side, you can also double-save your docs in two dirs: one as DOC, the other as 6.0/95-DOC and let your users choose which version to download/open.

If I save as word 6/95 will most of the features of the word 2002 document still work as intended in word 95, 97, 2000, 2002 and word 97/2000 viewer. If not, do you know which features will not work?

What do you mean by features?
DO you mean forms? Textboxes that shall be filled and stuff like that?

If yes: I do not really know, but actually I believe that this will end with you having two versions with data each, which you would have to manually combine.

But don't bet on it - I haven't mixed different versions like this yet.
