Word autoshapes display but won't print 1

I've been trying to use Autoshapes within Word 2002 under Windows XP. I've run into two problems:

a) Sometimes a shape I've drawn will suddenly become invisible. When I click I find it is still there, but the line has been removed without me asking for this.

b) When I try to print, I get a blank page. Everything is also blank on Preview.

Other people on the same network and with almost-identical machines don't have this problem.

Any ideas?

Are they using the same printer?
I had a user who had an out of date driver on her machine/printer which could not cope with anything other than text.
if it's not the machine try the printer or updating the driver.
Only thing I can think of.

Thanks for the suggestion, gizmo1973. But it is a fairly modern laser printer that can handle web pages with fancy graphics.

It may be a fancy printer, and fairly modern, but check the driver anyway. At least check to see if the other machines are using the same one as you are. It is worth a check. The fact that it can handle web pages with fancy graphics is irrelevant if the driver you are using is different.

was not checked and it worked perfectly when I set it.

How it ever got set off, I don't know.
