Word & Excel 2002 hangs with ID 1002

I have a desktop with XP pro using office 02. Periodically it will lock up while using Excel or Word giving me event id error # 1002. I have put on all the service packs and patches that I can find with no fix. I went to the link to Microsoft in the event viewer with no results. Cannot find anything on Microsofts KB either.

Just a little frustrated... Any ideas?!?!?!?
