Word 2000 Running real slow

Hi

Does anyone have any ideas why my copy of Word 2000 could be running really slowly, it does not do it all the time but now and again goes at less than snails pace.

Also occasionally it can crash when I am closing the program, or a document. Anyone have any clue as to what could be causing this and if so how to fix it?

PC is running Win ME and is on a peer to peer network.

try deleting the normal.dot template, this is loaded by Word at startup and if it is corrupt Word will run slowly or crash.
Close Winword and search for normal.dot and delete it, Word will create a new one at when it starts, you will lose any special formatting that you have in the normal template, it will revert to default settings
