A user is getting one of two kinds of messages when she tries to CLOSE Word 2000.
One message is:
Word could not fire the event.

The other is:
Microsoft Visual Basic
An error occurred while loading 'ThisDocument'. Do you want to continue loading the project?
Yes No Help

Yes will crash the app, no will close it.

This is on a Windows 2000 SP2 PC (pathed current)
with Office 2000 (also patched current)
I've run a repair on it from the install CD. I've uninstalled it ( and ran Office Cleaning Tool), and reinstalled it, but the problem doesn't go away.
Let me know what you think.
Thank You

This is directly form Microsoft

This is caused by

Insufficient disk space or low memory. This is the most common cause.
-or-
A damaged Word default template (Normal.dot) file.
-or-
A wrong version for the Vbe6.dll file.
-or-
A network rights (permissions) issue, if the Temp directory is on a server.

Rather than me copy the whole document here, please go to and in the search box enter Q212669

It explains how to fix the problem.

I tried these too. Before uninstalling and reinstalling. The disk space is not an issue, theres almost 3 gig avail on the drive. (it's a older drive). Renaming the Normal.dot file did work, nor did unregistering and reregistering the vbe6.dll.
Thanks for the info though.
