This a work related question I want to password protect a FOLDER in My docs.....I know how to do this for a file or a document, is there anyway to Password protect a FOLDER using Word 2000.

Re above, cant use ANY third party password protection software,as is WORK related.

Thanks

WORD cannot password protect folders, that is up to the OS or an add-on.

If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.

Thanks

People, the question was:
can I password protect a FOLDER from within WORD .
The OS does not matter in that case, WORD does not do that.

Yes, I realize that, but I was trying to help coakerb find another way to achieve the same result.

Are you able to change permissions on your folders at work? Or do they say that is a no go too? What I'm thinking is that you could change the permissions so that only the people you wanted to had permissions to access the folder.

Cheers

Sounds a possibilty, will check it out thanks for your help.

you could use a vba script to change permissions(if allowed at work)

if it is to be it's up to me
