Hey,

Someone wants a banner with the letters 10 inches tall. How do I know which font size is 10 inches? Or is there a better Office product to make a banner with? Thanks,

My understanding was that 72 points = 1 inch. So 720 = 10 inches. The problem with Word is that true type fonts have space all around them. So if you increase the size of a character, then its likely to be pushed downwards and out the bottom of the page. So 720 is not the correct number.

Some trial and error has proved that for Times Roman, 1150 point equals 10 inches. I have to use Powerpoint to get anything decent though. This figure (1150) depends on the font you decide to use as well, so trial and error I am afraid. (You should use the rulers that you get with Word and Powerpoint to guide you).

Muchas gracias! Jennifer Sigman
