I cannot start Word 2000. It trys to open a blank page and then crashes with the following message. "Microsoft Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close" and wants to send a message to MS. I suspect it may be trying to load a template that is corrupt.

Has anyone experienced this and if so how did you resolve it?

Thanks
AGM

If it is a corrupt Normal template, then do a search with Explorer and delete all the normal.dot files. Reboot and restart Word and it will recreate a fresh template.

If that doesn't work use the option of repair on the MS Office installation disk.
