Hi All,

I have the below issue with two machines running win2k sp4 and office 2000 sp3.

Special characters (3D boxes) in a Word document appear as completely different characters when the Word document is opened by another user. Is there any way to resolve this problem?

I this a simple format problem or template problem? I am trying to get more information to relate to the exact problem.

Cheers

It seems the problem is when characters are inserted via the menu (Insert, Symbol, Wingdings).

When the user selects the "3D box" image it appears as greek character "ro" which looks sort of like a big "P" and appears that way on the screen and on the printed output.

Any help?

Cheers

To update, this problem is still unsolved. I had a thought it may be down to a speacial font installed on the machine or something but the document is shared between about 10 users and on most it will open fine, on one machine I was shown that had the problem it would open one of the documents that contained the square box's fine not a problem, but on another document again containing these characters it would not display them correctly and would display them as a greek letter "P" I cant think why one works and another doesn't, it sort of threw my suggestion of an incorrect font out of the window :S

Would this be something to do with some format / template issue from the user who created the document?

I am running out of idea's here and can't seem to find anything on this....

Cheers

just possibility - check if symbol insert as Unicode or ACII. maybe, but maybe, ther is diff betwen machine.

How can I check this? I can't seem to find out how?
